The Government Trustee Bargaining Committee (GTBC) is pleased that teachers have ratified the tentative agreement that was reached between the GTBC and the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) in August. The results of the vote were announced by the STF earlier today.

“We know that the best collective agreements are reached at the bargaining table,” said Sandi Urban-Hall, spokesperson for the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee. “Both teams worked diligently on drafting this collective agreement and we are pleased that Saskatchewan’s teachers have voted to accept it.”

The new agreement is based on the recommendations contained in the Special Mediator’s Report released on July 6, 2011and include a mix of both general economic increases as well as special market adjustments for all Saskatchewan teachers. Retroactive payment will be made to September 1, 2010 based on the negotiated salary scales.

Both parties are expected to meet next week to sign the new, three year collective agreement. The agreement will be made available after it has been signed.
